• According to state law, school attendance is mandatory for children.
• Students will be excused for the following absences and tardies; a doctor/dental appointment, death in the family, religious commitment, illness, family emergency, or diagnostic testing.
• When missing school for an illness or an appointment, a doctor's note shall be required, especially for absences of three consecutive days or more and whenever a pattern of absences is present.
• Family vacations are unexcused absences.
• Students with no unexcused absences or tardies will receive monthly attendance certificates.

Tardies:

Students are considered late if they arrive after the 7:45 bell has rung.

1. Be escorted to the office by a parent or guardian.
2. Check in at the office to receive a tardy slip.
3. Return the tardy slip to the classroom teacher.

Student Release:

• Students may be released to designated adults during school hours.
• Adults are required to show photo identification.
• Children will not be released during the school day to walk home alone.

Use of personal cell phones, iPads, iPods, electronic books, MP3 players, etc. is not permitted during the school day. Cell phones must be kept off or silenced and out of sight while on campus. Students are not allowed to receive or make calls or text messages. Students needing to call home during the day need to ask school staff. The misuse of cell phones and other forms of technology that could include, but not be limited to, the unauthorized taking of pictures, cheating, invading privacy, etc, is not permitted.

Review the full APS Policy . If a student violates APS policy the item will be taken away and stored in the administrative office. Parents will need to retrieve the device.

• Hats may be worn for specific instructional, safety, religious or medical reasons; bills face forward.
• No spaghetti straps, see-through or bare midriffs, alcohol advertisements or gang related clothes.
• Tank tops with 2” wide straps may be worn.
• Shorts, skirts and dresses are to be fingertip length.
• No sagging waists or crotches on pants or exposed underwear.
